Wash. homeowner shoots, wounds drugged-out intruder Via Fox News / KPTV

CHEHALIS, WA (KPTV) – A Chehalis homeowner shot and injured a man who entered his home early Sunday morning.

Law enforcement responded to a call of someone outside the house on State Route 603 in Chehalis shortly before 5 a.m.

The 24-year-old homeowner says he was asleep with his wife inside the home and heard someone talking outside the house.

Authorities were notified by a 911 call and the homeowner armed himself with a pistol until law enforcement arrived.

The suspect, Brian L. Creed, entered the home and started down a hallway toward the homeowner, who was standing outside the bedroom door to protect his wife.

When the homeowner told the suspect to stop, Creed chose to charge the homeowner.

The homeowner fired one shot at the intruder but he continued and tackled the homeowner.

The two were in a physical fight until the homeowner was able to get free and hold Creed at gunpoint until deputies arrived.

Investigators said Creed had recently moved into a house nearby and admitted that he had used methamphetamine earlier in the day.

Creed was taken to a nearby hospital before being flown to Harborview Medical Center in Seattle in stable condition.

The homeowner was uninjured.
